The Story of Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta

1853-1997

In July 1998, Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta published a book of its story from 1853 to the present day. Written by Philip Emerton, edited and produced by Gavin MacDonald, it has 160 pages and 100 illustrations including photographs ancient and modern and drawings from the earliest days of the event.

The book records the story of the regatta, the traditions of the various disciplines and races, and focuses on matters of current and historical interest. A hardback ( size 234mm by 189mm ) on 115 gram art paper, the inner covers and fly sheets detail the events competed for in each regatta and a list of all winners since 1946 is included. Updates of recent winners will be made available every few years in insert format to place in a slip-in folder inside the back cover.

Copies will be available at the regatta shop at the regatta this year, or by post from Nick Jackson, address below at a price of £21 (plus £4 p&p ie. £25 inclusive). They are also available from local bookshops in Henley.
