Christmas Party
In December the Wargrave Local History Society had our traditional party.
Tony Barker had arranged a quiz, with photographs of various 'front doors
with flowers' taken in Church Street and Ferry Lane, Wargrave during the
summer, for members to identify by name and location. The winners were
Richard Lloyd and Helen Perry. This was followed by a slide show prepared by
Geoff Briggs on the Village Festival of 1987. With a commentary by his wife
Pam, and very effective background music, members enjoyed seeing many of the
events and people of 20 years ago. We were then treated to refreshments of
mulled wine and home made pies provided by Wendy Smith.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, January 8th David Embling will speak
about the History of English Furniture, and then on Tuesday, February 12th,
Joan Dils will tell us of life in Victorian Earley.
All are welcome to
our meetings, which begin at 8 pm - normally in the Hannen Room, Mill
Green.
