Christmas Party
The December meeting of the Wargrave Local History Society was the traditional Christmas party. Mulled wine, mince pies and apple and blackberry pies were served by Wendy Smith, and members tried to work out the location of 40 photographs of parts of the village - sometimes small details, and others maybe above or below the usual eyeline.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, January 9th, Tony Weston will reveal The Secrets of the Box - a family writing box dating from the 1820s. Then, on Tuesday, February 13th, in Researching Your Ancestree, there will be an introduction to the process of tracing family history, with practical advice and illustrated by examples of interest. There will be ideas on how to get started, what kind of records are useful, where to look, etc given by members who are actively involved in this kind of research.
Tuesday 13th March will be the society AGM, following which will be a
showing of part 2 of ‘Wargrave Then and Now’ - which continues along the High
Street and then visits other parts
of the village.
Our meetings (normally) begin at 8 p.m. in the Hannen Room, Wargrave, and all interested are
welcome.. Please contact
